01Why
The hard part was never the hens
It's remembering that Marlena asked first, that Karolina takes two dozen every other week, that somebody has had your cartons for a month, and that the neighbour who asked three weeks ago is still waiting while the regulars quietly keep going first.
EggQueue is a small, private notebook for exactly that. You tell it what the hens laid. It says who's next.
02The queue
One list, numbered from 1
Everyone waiting is on one list, and the number next to a name is simply the order the eggs go out in. Nobody owns their number. It's a place in the line, not a label, so it changes the moment somebody ahead collects.
Four levels decide who is served first. The app sets two of them by itself: people who order every week or two become regulars, and one-off orders are drop-ins. You can move someone to the front, or to the very end, by hand.

03Adding eggs
Add eggs, and it does the rest
Tell the app how many eggs you collected. It fills orders from the front of the queue and shows exactly who still needs more. An order turns Ready only when it has every egg it asked for. A half-filled order keeps what it has and waits for the rest.

- A fixed number of eggs kept back for your own kitchen, protected before anybody in the queue is served.
- Oldest first
- The oldest eggs in stock go out first, so nothing sits and ages. Or turn it off.
- Broken, eaten, miscounted
- Take eggs back out with a reason. Free eggs go first. If some have to come out of somebody's order, the app says so before it does it.
- Surplus
- Anything left once everybody has what they asked for shows up on the Today screen as spare, ready to be offered around.
04Pickups
Ready isn't the same as coming today
An order doesn't need a date to be ready, and the app never mixes up "the eggs are packed" with "they're coming today". Set a time when one is agreed, or give a customer a usual day and window, say Fridays from 5 to 7, and the app works out the rest.
If someone is running late, you can hold their eggs aside. When the hold runs out, the app tells you the hold has expired. It doesn't accuse anybody of missing an appointment that was never made.
The month calendar marks booked pickups and customers who are only expected in two different ways. If you want, the app can also tell you the moment an order is fully packed, and give you a short list each morning of who is coming that day. Both stay off until you turn them on.
05Customers
Everyone who buys from you
Name, picture, phone, notes, the usual amount and pickup window, and a price of their own if they get one. Repeating orders, weekly, every two weeks, monthly or every so many days, appear by themselves after the previous pickup. A week somebody skips never piles up into two orders.

- The sales history stays. The app won't archive someone who still has eggs reserved, so no eggs are left stranded.

- How many of your cartons each person is still holding.
06Messages
It writes the text, you press send
The app never sends anything by itself. It prepares the message for you: eggs ready, a reminder, a missed pickup, still waiting, spare eggs going. You read it, change whatever you like, and hand it over to Messages or WhatsApp with the text already filled in.
Nothing leaves your phone until you press send in that app.
07Money
Who has paid, and who hasn't
Prices are kept in whole cents, never fractions, so the totals always add up. There's a standard price per egg and a different one for anyone who has earned it. The price is fixed at the moment of pickup, so changing it tomorrow never rewrites what you sold yesterday.
The stats screen shows pickups, eggs sold, revenue and what's still owed over the last 7 days, 30 days or all time, who your biggest customers are, and exactly who hasn't paid. Tap a name to open their history and mark it settled. You can export it all as a spreadsheet whenever you need it.
08Readable
Easy to read, day or night
Status is never shown by colour alone. Every state has an icon and a word, and the queue levels carry a number as well as a shade.
The app works with VoiceOver and larger text sizes, and has a light and a dark theme that follow the system or whichever you prefer.
Your customer list stays with you
EggQueue has no account, no server and no adverts. Everything you type in, your customers, their orders and who owes you what, is stored on your iPhone and syncs through your own private iCloud if you're signed in. I never receive it and have no way to see it.
There's no analytics, no tracking and no third-party code in the app. You're keeping details about other people, so treat the phone like the notebook it replaces and lock it with a passcode.

No subscription, and nothing to buy inside the app.
Bought once, it's yours on every iPhone signed in with the same Apple Account.
