1. Who provides the app

Safe Compass Kids (the "App") is provided by:

2. Summary

  • We do not collect any personal data. The App has no account, no login and no server, and it sends us no information.
  • All settings stay on your iPhone: safe places, contacts, the child's name and the PIN.
  • No ads, no tracking, no third-party analytics. The App contains no external analytics or advertising tools (SDKs).
  • No route history. The App never stores where the child has been.
  • A location is shared with other people only when the user sends the "I'm Lost" message in the Messages app.

3. What the App processes, and where

All of the following is processed only locally on the device. The Developer has no access to it.

3.1. Information entered by the parent/guardian

  • The child's first name (optional), added to the "I'm Lost" message.
  • Safe places: name, coordinates, icon, color, validity dates, radius, priority.
  • Contacts: name (e.g. "Mum"), phone number, icon, color, message and call settings.
  • App settings: voice guidance, vibrations, an extra message line, etc.

This data is stored in the App's storage on the device, in a file protected by iOS encryption.

3.2. Parent PIN and recovery code

The PIN and the recovery code are never stored in readable form. The App stores only cryptographic hashes (salted SHA-256) in the iOS Keychain. The Keychain items are available on this device only and are not synced to iCloud.

3.3. Location

The App asks for location access only while the app is in use. It never asks for "Always" access.

Location is used only to:

  • show the direction and distance to a safe place,
  • automatically choose the nearest suitable safe place (if the parent turned this on),
  • add the position to the "I'm Lost" message,
  • save a safe place's coordinates when the parent taps "Use current location".

The device's current position is not stored and not sent to the Developer. The App does not run in the background and keeps no location history.

3.4. Compass and motion sensors

The compass and the orientation sensor are used to turn the arrow and to check that the phone is held flat. Readings are used live and are not stored.

3.5. Contacts from the address book

"Choose from Contacts" opens Apple's contact picker. The App has no access to the address book. It receives only the name and number of the person the parent selects.

3.6. Widgets

Widgets receive only the name, icon and color of the current safe place: no coordinates and no phone numbers. The data stays on the device.

4. When information leaves the device

4.1. The "I'm Lost" message

When "I'm Lost" is pressed, the App opens Apple's Messages app (SMS/iMessage) with a prepared text. The text contains:

  • the child's name, if set,
  • the location (a map link and, optionally, coordinates),
  • the time the location was captured.

The message is sent only if the user taps "Send". It goes only to contacts set up by the parent. It is carried by the mobile operator or Apple's iMessage service, not by the Developer, and the Developer has no access to its content.

The map link points to Google Maps (maps.google.com). When a recipient opens it, their device connects to Google under Google's privacy policy.

4.2. Phone calls

The "Call" tiles start a normal phone call through iOS. The Developer has no access to calls.

4.3. Map and address search (parent settings only)

Choosing a place on the map or searching for an address uses Apple Maps (MapKit). Apple may receive the search text and the approximate map area, under Apple's privacy policy. The Developer does not receive this data.

4.4. Siri, Shortcuts and the Action Button

If Siri or Shortcuts are used, Apple processes the requests under its privacy policy.

4.5. Premium purchase

Purchases are handled entirely by Apple (App Store). The Developer does not receive payment details, names or e-mail addresses. The App only checks, using Apple-signed App Store information, whether the purchase is active.

4.6. Apple statistics and crash reports

If the user allowed sharing with app developers in the iPhone settings, Apple may give the Developer anonymous, aggregated statistics and crash reports that do not identify the user. This can be turned off in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.

5. Children

The App is intended for children under the supervision of a parent or guardian, who sets it up. The Developer does not collect children's personal data, shows no ads, does no profiling, and shows the child no external links. Settings, purchases and external links are available only after entering the parent PIN.

The Developer does not collect users' personal data and is therefore not the controller, within the meaning of the GDPR, of data stored locally on the device. The user enters, changes and deletes that data. The user decides the content and recipients of the "I'm Lost" message, which is sent through Apple's system services and the mobile operator.

If you contact us by e-mail, we process your address and message only to reply. The legal basis is our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We keep correspondence only as long as needed to handle the request and to defend against possible claims.

7. Retention and deletion

Data stays on the device until the user deletes it:

  • in the parent settings, by deleting places and contacts,
  • by deleting the App from the iPhone. This removes the App's data, and the PIN hashes in the Keychain are wiped when the App is reinstalled and first opened.

Copies may exist in the iPhone's backups (iCloud or computer), if enabled. These are managed by the user and Apple.

8. Your rights

Because the Developer does not store your data, you can view, change and delete all of it directly in the App. For e-mail correspondence, you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Poland this is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO), ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warszawa, uodo.gov.pl.

9. Security

App data is protected by iOS security: on-device data encryption and the Keychain. Security also depends on the iPhone itself. We recommend setting a device passcode. The parent PIN prevents accidental changes by a child. It is not protection against someone with full access to an unlocked device.

10. Important safety information and limitations

  • The App is a helper tool. It does not guarantee a child's safety, does not replace adult supervision, and is not an emergency or alarm service. It does not notify emergency services. In an emergency, call the local emergency number (112 in the EU).
  • The App is not designed to monitor or track a child.
  • Direction and distance come from the device's GPS and compass. They may be inaccurate or unavailable, especially indoors, between tall buildings, near metal objects, with a weak signal, or with precise location turned off.
  • The arrow shows a straight-line direction. It does not account for streets, crossings, obstacles, water, railways or traffic. Parents should teach children to move safely and to ask adults for help.
  • Sending messages and making calls depend on the device, SIM card, coverage, operator and Apple services, battery, and other people (e.g. someone reading the message). The Developer has no control over these.
  • The parent/guardian is responsible for correct settings, including places, dates, phone numbers and the PIN, and for regularly testing the App. The App provides a test function for this.
  • To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Developer is not liable for damage resulting from location inaccuracy, unavailability of third-party services, incorrect configuration, or use of the App contrary to its purpose. This does not exclude or limit liability that cannot be excluded by law, nor mandatory consumer rights.

11. Changes
