1. Who we are
The Alert My Fam app ("the App") is made and published under the brand Built in the Attic by:
Filip Lechowicz, running a sole proprietorship in Poland ("we", "us").

2. Summary
- We do not collect your personal data. The App has no account, no sign-up and no servers of its own. We cannot see your contacts, messages, location or alert buttons.
- Everything you enter is stored only on your iPhone.
- The App contains no advertising, no analytics and no tracking, and it shares no data with third parties for marketing.
- Messages are sent by you, using Apple's Messages app, to people you choose.
3. Data stored only on your device
To work, the App saves the following on your iPhone, in the App's private storage:

This data is not sent to us or anyone else by the App. It stays on your device until you change or delete it, or delete the App.
Widgets. To show your buttons in widgets, the App shares only the button name, icon and color with its widgets through a storage area on your iPhone. No contacts, messages or locations are shared with widgets. You can hide button names in the widgets (Settings → Widgets).
Device backups. If you use iCloud Backup or back up your iPhone to a computer, Apple may include the App's data in that backup. Backups are governed by your settings and Apple's Privacy Policy, not by us.
4. Location
- The App asks for permission to use your location only while it is open ("While Using the App"). It never tracks you in the background.
- Your position is used only to add a map link to a message you are about to send.
- We never receive your location. It goes only to the people you send a message to.
- The map link opens in Google Maps (maps.google.com). When a recipient opens it, Google's privacy policy applies to them.
- You can turn off location access at any time in iPhone Settings → Alert My Fam → Location. Alerts will then be sent without a location.
5. Contacts
- When you add a person from your Contacts, the App uses Apple's contact picker. The App gets only the person you pick, not your whole address book, and needs no access permission to your Contacts.
- You can also type a name and number by hand.
6. Messages
- The App does not send messages on its own. It opens Apple's Messages screen with the text filled in, and you decide whether to tap Send.
- Messages are delivered by Apple (iMessage) or your mobile carrier (SMS/MMS) under their own terms and privacy policies. We have no access to them.
- The App cannot confirm whether a message was delivered or read.
7. Health-related information
Some alert buttons (e.g. *Low Blood Sugar*, *I Feel Aura*, *Asthma Attack*) may reveal information about your health. This information:
- is stored only on your iPhone;
- is never sent to us;
- leaves your device only in a message you choose to send.
On the Lock Screen, button names are visible to anyone who sees your iPhone. You can hide them in Settings → Widgets.
8. Your contacts' data
When you save someone as a trusted contact, their name and phone number are stored on your iPhone only, for your personal use. Please add only people who agree to receive alerts from you. The App offers a test message that explains to them what the App is.
9. Purchases
Premium is a one-time in-app purchase handled entirely by Apple (App Store). We do not receive your payment card details, name or Apple Account details. Apple only confirms to the App whether Premium was purchased. Apple's privacy policy applies to the purchase.
10. Data we receive from Apple
If you agreed to share analytics with app developers in iPhone Settings (Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements), Apple may share anonymous crash reports and usage statistics with us. They do not identify you and are used only to fix errors. You can turn this off in iPhone Settings at any time.
11. When you contact us
If you e-mail us, we will receive your e-mail address and whatever you write. We use it only to answer you and handle your request (legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR for handling a purchase-related request or support you asked for, and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in answering messages and defending against claims). We keep this correspondence for as long as needed to handle the matter, and then no longer than the limitation period for possible claims. We do not share it with anyone except our e-mail provider, Google (Gmail), who acts on our behalf. If the provider processes data outside the European Economic Area, this is based on standard contractual clauses or a European Commission decision.
12. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase and restrict processing of your data, to data portability, and to object to processing based on legitimate interest. Because the App stores data only on your iPhone, you control it directly:
- Change data in the App at any time.
- Delete everything by deleting the App from your iPhone.
For data from your e-mails to us, write to builtintheattic@gmail.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Poland, this is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (Prezes UODO), ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warszawa, uodo.gov.pl.
13. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13. Children and teenagers should use it with the consent and help of a parent or guardian, who should set up the contacts together with them. We do not knowingly collect any data from children, as we do not collect data from any users.
14. Security
Your data is protected by iPhone's built-in security (passcode, Face ID/Touch ID and data encryption). Anyone who can unlock your iPhone can open the App and see its data, so please protect your device with a passcode.
15. Important limitations
- Alert My Fam is not an emergency service and does not replace one. It does not contact the police, ambulance or fire service. In an emergency, call 112 (or your local emergency number).
- Sending a message depends on your iPhone, mobile signal, carrier and Apple's services, which are outside our control. We cannot guarantee that a message will be sent, delivered, read or acted on, or that a location will be available or accurate.
- Please test your alerts with your contacts before you need them.
- To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damage resulting from a message not being sent, delivered or read, from inaccurate location, or from how recipients act. This does not limit liability that cannot be excluded by law, including liability for damage caused intentionally, and it does not affect your statutory consumer rights.
16. This website
The website builtintheattic.com, including the Alert My Fam page, is informational only. It does not use tracking cookies or analytics tools. It is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc., whose servers may automatically record basic technical data (IP address, date and time of the visit, browser type) to deliver the website and keep it secure. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the website secure and working (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
17. Changes to this policy
If the App changes how it handles data, we will update this policy and its effective date. Important changes will also be announced in the App's update notes. The current version is always available at: https://builtintheattic.com/apps/alert-my-fam/privacy-policy/
