Privacy Policy

The short version

EggQueue has no account, no server and no adverts. Everything you type into it - your customers, their orders, what they owe you - is stored on your iPhone, and syncs through your own private iCloud if you are signed in. I never receive it, cannot see it, and have no way to reach it. The app contains no analytics, no tracking and no third-party code.

The one thing that does reach me is an email, if you choose to send me one.

1. Who is responsible for what

EggQueue is made and published under the brand Built in the Attic by:

EggQueue runs entirely on your device. It has no companion service and makes no network requests of its own. Because of that, for everything you enter into the app I am neither the controller nor the processor of that data within the meaning of the GDPR - I have no access to it, no copy of it, and no technical means of obtaining it.

Where this policy says "you", it means the person using the app.

2. What the app stores, and where

Everything the app holds is created by you, and stays in the app's own storage area on your iPhone:

  • customers you add: name, chosen avatar, phone number, notes, usual amount, usual pickup day and time window, price, queue level, pause and archive state;
  • orders: amounts, dates, status, pickup times, holds, prices, whether they were paid, cartons out;
  • eggs collected: quantities, collection dates, and any removals with their reason;
  • your settings: price per egg, currency, home reserve, appearance, reminder switches.

That is the whole list. The app does not ask for, and cannot read, your contacts, your photos, your camera, your microphone, your location, your calendar, your health data, your device identifiers or your advertising identifier.

No part of this is transmitted to me or to anyone else by the app.

3. iCloud sync

If you are signed in to iCloud on your device and iCloud is enabled for EggQueue, your EggQueue data is synchronised between your own Apple devices through Apple's CloudKit service, in the private database of your own iCloud account.

What that means in practice:

  • the data is stored under your Apple Account, not under any account of mine;
  • I have no access to it. Apple's private database is not visible to the app's developer - I cannot read it, export it or restore it for you;
  • Apple processes it as part of the iCloud service you have a contract with. Apple's handling is governed by Apple's own privacy policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
  • you can stop it at any time in iOS Settings → your name → iCloud, or by signing out of iCloud. The app keeps working with the data on the device.

If you are not signed in to iCloud, or iCloud is turned off for the app, EggQueue stores everything locally and nothing leaves the device at all.

Separately from this, your iPhone's normal encrypted device backup (iCloud Backup or a computer backup) may include the app's data. That is a function of iOS, under your control in iOS Settings.

4. Data about other people - this part is your responsibility

EggQueue is a tool for writing down information about other people: their names, phone numbers, notes about them, and what they owe you.

If you use EggQueue purely for private, household purposes, EU data protection law generally does not apply to what you do with it. If you use it in the course of a business or professional activity - selling eggs for money, keeping a record of debts - then in respect of that information you are the data controller, and the obligations of the GDPR fall on you, not on me. In summary, that means:

  • having a lawful basis for keeping the information;
  • telling those people, if asked, what you hold and why;
  • honouring their requests to see, correct or erase it - all of which you can do inside the app;
  • keeping it no longer than you need it;
  • keeping your device secure, with a passcode and Face ID or Touch ID.

I cannot carry out any of those things on your behalf, because I have no access to the information. Please do not write into the app anything about a customer that you would not be comfortable being asked to justify - in particular, health information or any other special-category data has no place in a note about who gets the next dozen eggs.

5. When you hand something to another app

The app never sends a message, an email or a file by itself. Some things you may choose to do hand information to another app, and at that moment this policy stops applying and that app's own terms take over:

  • Messages. The app can open Apple's message window with the recipient and the text already filled in. Nothing is sent until you press send, in Apple's own screen.
  • WhatsApp. The app can open WhatsApp with the message prepared. WhatsApp is operated by Meta and is governed by its own privacy policy.
  • Copy. Copying a message puts it on your device's clipboard, which other apps on your device can read.
  • Export. Exporting your sales history creates a spreadsheet file and offers it to the iOS share sheet. Where it goes next - mail, Files, another app - is your choice, and it leaves the app's control at that point.

None of these go through me, and I receive no copy.

6. Notifications

If you turn them on, the app can show you a banner when an order becomes fully packed, and a short morning summary of the day's pickups. These are local notifications: they are created and scheduled by the app on your own device. There is no push server, and no notification token is registered with or sent to me. You can switch them off inside the app or in iOS Settings.

7. Buying the app

EggQueue is a paid app. The purchase is handled entirely by Apple: in the EU the seller of record is Apple Distribution International Ltd. I never see your payment details, card number, billing address, Apple Account or email address. What I receive from Apple is an anonymous, aggregated sales report - numbers of units sold by country and by day, with nothing that identifies any buyer.

Refunds, receipts and purchase history are handled by Apple, at https://reportaproblem.apple.com

8. If you write to me

This is the one place where I do hold personal data, and where I am the controller of it.

If you send me an email - a question, a bug report, a refund query - I receive your email address, your name if you sign it, and whatever you put in the message.

  • Why: to answer you, and to fix the problem you are describing.
  • Legal basis: Article 6(1)(b) GDPR (steps at your request in connection with the app) and Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (my legitimate interest in supporting and improving the app).
  • How long: until the matter is settled, and normally no longer than 24 months afterwards, unless I need it longer to defend a legal claim.
  • Who else sees it: my email provider, Google (Gmail), as a processor, and nobody else. I do not sell, rent or share it, and I do not use it to send you anything you did not ask for.

If you send me a screenshot or an export to help me reproduce a bug, it may contain your customers' details. Please remove or obscure them first. Anything you do send me for that purpose is deleted as soon as the problem is understood.

9. This website

The website builtintheattic.com, including the EggQueue page, is informational only. It does not use tracking cookies or analytics tools.

The website is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. Its servers may automatically record basic technical data (IP address, date and time of the visit, browser type) to deliver the website and keep it secure. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in keeping the website secure and working (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). This data is not used to identify visitors and is kept for the period set by the hosting company.

10. Your rights

In respect of the data described in sections 8 and 9 - that is, correspondence with me and the website's technical data - you have the right to ask for access to it, to have it corrected or erased, to have its processing restricted, to object to it, and to receive it in a portable form. Write to builtintheattic@gmail.com and I will answer within one month.

You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority. In Poland that is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (Prezes Urzędu Ochrony Danych Osobowych), ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warszawa, uodo.gov.pl, or the authority in the country where you live.

For the data inside the app there is nothing to ask me for: you already hold all of it, and you can read, change, export and delete every part of it yourself, in the app.

11. Children

EggQueue is a tool for running a small egg business and is not directed at children. It collects no data about anybody, so it collects none about children. If a child uses it on a family device, the same thing is true as for everyone else: what is written stays on that device.

12. Security

Your EggQueue data is protected by the security of your own device and your own Apple Account: iOS data protection, your passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and - for the synchronised copy - Apple's encryption of iCloud data in transit and at rest.

Because there is no server, there is no server to be breached. The practical risks are the ordinary ones, and they are in your hands: an unlocked phone, a shared device, a screenshot sent to the wrong person, an export saved somewhere public. Use a passcode.

13. Deleting everything

Deleting the app from your iPhone removes its data from that device. If iCloud sync was on, the copy in your iCloud account is removed through iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage, where EggQueue's data can be deleted; signing out of iCloud or turning sync off for the app stops any further synchronising.

I cannot delete this data for you, and I cannot recover it for you either. There is no copy of it anywhere I can reach. Before you delete the app, export anything you want to keep.

14. Transfers outside the EEA

The app transfers nothing to me, because I receive nothing from it. Insofar as iCloud involves storage or processing outside the European Economic Area, that is done by Apple under its own agreement with you and its own safeguards, described in Apple's privacy policy. Google, my email provider, and Cloudflare, the website's host, may process data outside the EEA on the basis of the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

15. Changes to this policy

If the app changes in a way that affects this policy, the policy is updated in the same release and the effective date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be flagged in the app's release notes. The current version is always the one at https://builtintheattic.com/apps/eggqueue/privacy-policy/

16. Governing law and contact

This policy is governed by Polish law and the GDPR (Regulation (EU) 2016/679). Nothing in it limits any right you have as a consumer under mandatory provisions of the law where you live.
