Privacy Policy

Effective from: 29 September 2026

1. In short

GrandCam is a simple camera. The app does not collect, send or sell any data about you.

  • There are no accounts and no sign-in.
  • There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
  • The app does not connect to any server run by the developer. The only part that uses the internet is the App Store purchase, which is handled entirely by Apple.
  • Photos and videos go only to the Photos app on your phone. The developer has no access to them.

2. Who is responsible for the app

GrandCam is made and published under the brand Built in the Attic. The app's developer and the data controller under the GDPR is:

3. Which phone features the app uses

To work, GrandCam uses a few iPhone features. Everything happens on your device and nothing is sent to the Developer.

  • Camera - to show the picture and take photos and videos.
  • Microphone - only if video recording is turned on. Sound is recorded only while a video is being recorded.
  • Photos (add only) - to save a photo or video to the Photos app. GrandCam asks only for permission to add, so it cannot see or read your photos.
  • Motion sensors - with "Steady Photo", the app checks for a few seconds at most how much the phone is moving, so it can take the photo at the calmest moment. These readings are not stored.
  • Voice - voice messages are recordings built into the app or the iOS speech synthesizer, which runs on the phone.

GrandCam does not use your location, so it does not add where a photo was taken.

You can change camera, microphone and Photos permissions at any time in the iPhone Settings → GrandCam.

4. What the app stores on your phone

  • Settings (e.g. language, voice, flash, whether setup is finished) - stored only on the phone. They may be included in your iPhone backup (iCloud or computer) if you make one. This happens within Apple's services.
  • Temporary files - a video is first saved in the app's temporary folder and deleted right after it is moved to Photos. With "Steady Photo", the camera takes a few frames, keeps the sharpest one and discards the rest without saving them.

Deleting the app removes its settings and temporary files. Your photos and videos stay in the Photos app.

5. Photos and videos

Photos and videos become part of your library in the Photos app. If iCloud Photos is turned on, Apple stores and syncs them under its own privacy policy. The Developer has no access to them and never receives them.

6. In-app purchase

You unlock the full version with a one-time payment in the App Store. The payment is handled entirely by Apple. The Developer does not receive your name, email address or card details.

The app only checks, through Apple's system, whether the purchase was made. Apple gives the Developer only aggregated sales reports that cannot identify you. Apple's policy: apple.com/legal/privacy

7. Crash reports from Apple

If you agreed in your iPhone settings to share data with app developers, Apple may pass anonymous crash reports and aggregated statistics to the Developer. They cannot be used to identify you. You can turn this off in iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.

8. Contacting the Developer by email

If you email the Developer, they will receive your email address and your message. These are used only to reply and handle your request. The legal basis is the Developer's legitimate interest in being able to reply (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Correspondence is kept for no longer than 2 years after the matter is closed, unless a longer period is needed to establish, pursue or defend legal claims. Messages are stored with the Developer's email provider, Google (Gmail). If the provider processes data outside the European Economic Area, this is based on standard contractual clauses or a European Commission decision.

9. Website

The website builtintheattic.com, including the GrandCam page, is informational only. It does not use tracking cookies or analytics tools.

The website is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. Its servers may automatically record basic technical data (IP address, date and time of the visit, browser type) to deliver the website and keep it secure. The legal basis is the Developer's legitimate interest in keeping the website secure and working (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). This data is not used to identify visitors and is kept for the period set by the hosting company.

10. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict and port your data, and to object to its processing, to the extent the Developer processes your data. In practice this applies only to email correspondence. To use these rights, write to builtintheattic@gmail.com.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Polish data protection authority, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warsaw, uodo.gov.pl), or with the authority in your country.

The app does not send any data to the Developer, so the Developer cannot provide or delete it for you. To remove everything the app has stored, simply delete it from your phone.

11. Children

The app does not collect data from any users, including children.

12. Security

Settings stored by the app are protected by iOS security features. We recommend setting a passcode on your phone. The Developer has no control over, and is not responsible for, the security of the device itself, backups or third-party services (e.g. iCloud).

13. Important information for users

  • When you take photos or record videos of other people, respect their right to their image and privacy. The person who took the photos and videos is responsible for their content and how they are used.
  • GrandCam does not make its own copies of photos and videos. If you delete them from the Photos app or lose your phone without a backup, they cannot be recovered through GrandCam. Please keep a backup, e.g. iCloud Photos.
  • Use of the app is governed by Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA): apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula
  • The Developer makes every effort to keep the app working correctly but does not guarantee that it will work without interruptions or errors on every device. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Developer is not liable for damage resulting from the loss of photos or videos. This does not limit consumer rights under mandatory law.

14. Changes to this policy

The Developer may update this policy, e.g. when the app gets new features. The current version is always available in the app (Caregiver settings → Privacy policy) and at https://builtintheattic.com/apps/grandcam/privacy-policy/. The date at the top shows when the current version took effect. If the app were ever to start collecting data, this policy would be updated before that change is made.

15. Governing law and contact

This policy is governed by Polish law and the GDPR (Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council). Privacy questions: builtintheattic@gmail.com.
