1. Who is responsible for the app

The Scoliometer & Inclinometer app (the "App") is published under the brand Built in the Attic by:

Referred to below as the "Developer".

2. The short version

• The App does not collect any personal data and does not send any information to the Developer.
• No accounts, sign-in, cloud, ads, analytics or tracking.
• The App does not connect to the internet.
• Everything you save stays on your device. The Developer has no access to it and cannot read, recover or delete it.
• The App has no fields for patient data (name, national ID number, initials, photos or any other identifying information).

3. What the App stores on your device

The App stores only the following, and only in your device's storage:

• saved measurements - date and time, angle, and measuring mode (Scoliometer or Inclinometer);
• settings - e.g. haptics, sound, dominant hand, display precision, warning threshold, startup mode, language;
• calibration - a single correction value;
• activated partner codes - codes are checked on the device and never sent anywhere;
• tutorial housekeeping - e.g. when it was last shown.

This information is never sent to the Developer or any other party, and on its own it does not identify anyone.

4. Motion sensors

The App reads the device's built-in motion sensors (accelerometer and gyroscope) to calculate the tilt angle. Sensor readings are processed in real time in the device's memory and are never transmitted. Only a result you choose to save with the "+" button is stored.

The App does not use the camera, microphone, location, contacts, photos, Health data (HealthKit) or the advertising identifier.

5. Device backups

If you have device backups turned on (e.g. iCloud or a backup on your computer), iOS may include the App's data, including your measurement history, in those backups. Such backups are created and stored by Apple or by your computer, under the settings you choose. The Developer has no access to them. You can stop the App's data from being included in iCloud backups in your device's iCloud settings.

6. Apple and the App Store

You download the App from the App Store, operated by Apple. Apple processes your data (e.g. relating to your Apple Account, purchase and payment and, if you allow it in your device settings, crash reports and diagnostic data) as a separate, independent controller under its own privacy policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/. The Developer receives from Apple only aggregated, anonymous statistics (such as download numbers) and, if you allow it, anonymous crash reports. These do not identify you.

7. Your responsibility as a professional

The App is intended for professionals such as physiotherapists and does not store patient data. If, outside the App, you link saved measurements to a particular person (for example in clinical records), you are the controller of that data and are responsible for processing it in line with the GDPR and the rules on medical records. The Developer does not process that data and has no access to it.

We recommend protecting your device with a passcode, not adding patient details anywhere on the device linked to the App, and deleting measurements you no longer need.

8. Contacting the Developer

If you contact the Developer (e.g. by email), the Developer processes the data you provide (email address, message content and possibly your name) only to reply and deal with your request. The legal basis is the Developer's legitimate interest in handling correspondence (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) or, where your request concerns a contract, its performance (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Correspondence is kept for as long as needed to deal with it and then until any related claims become time-barred. Please do not send patient data in your messages.

9. Website

The App's website (builtintheattic.com) does not use cookies or analytics tools. It only remembers, in your own browser, the look you chose (light or dark) and whether the lamp on the homepage is switched on. This is never sent anywhere.

The website is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. On every visit, its servers automatically process technical connection data (e.g. IP address, date and time of the visit, browser type) to deliver the website and protect it from attacks. The legal basis is the Developer's legitimate interest in keeping the website secure and working properly (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). This data is not used to identify visitors.

10. Children

The App is intended for adult professionals and is not directed at children. The App does not collect data about children or anyone else.

11. Your rights

Where the Developer processes your personal data (e.g. in correspondence), you have the right to access, rectify and erase it, to restrict its processing, to data portability, and to object to processing. To exercise these rights, write to the address in section 1. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority - in Poland, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO, ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warsaw, www.uodo.gov.pl) - or with the authority in your own EU country.

You have full control over the data stored in the App on your device: you can delete individual measurements in History, and deleting the App removes all of its data from the device.

12. Security

Because the App transmits no data, there is no server or database from which data could leak. Data in the App is protected by iOS security features, including device encryption when a passcode is set.

13. Nature of the App

The App is a measuring instrument that supports a professional's work. It does not diagnose and does not replace clinical examination or imaging. Results depend on how the device is positioned, its calibration and the measuring conditions. Clinical decisions are made solely by the professional. Use of the App is also subject to the App Store Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Apple Standard EULA).

14. Changes to this policy

If the App changes in a way that affects privacy, I will update this policy and the date at the top. The current version is always available in the App (Help) and at: https://builtintheattic.com/apps/scoliometer/privacy-policy/
